Microsoft 365 signs in through your email app, so a profile file cannot carry it. Use the steps below, or save the settings as a text file.
Before you start
- Microsoft says the app you send from must support TLS. Any current email app does.
If it will not connect
- Send on port 587 with STARTTLS, as Microsoft's own settings table lists.
- Connection refused or sign in blocked: ask whoever manages Microsoft 365 for your company. They control which sign in methods are allowed.
2. Which email app are you adding it to?
Checked 27 October 2026 against Microsoft Learn: Enable or disable POP3 or IMAP4 in Exchange Online, Microsoft Learn: How to set up a device or app to send email using Microsoft 365. Providers change these, so if a setting fails, the provider's own page wins.
