UTM builder

Add source, medium and campaign to any link. We tidy the values and warn you about the mistakes that split your reports, all in your browser.

How we can help

A tagged link only helps if the sale is counted

UTM links tell you where a click came from. Whether the sale is attributed to it depends on tracking that survives the checkout, and that is where most stores lose the data.

Not sure which you need? Book a free 30-minute call and bring this result, or send us a message. No obligation, no pitch deck.

Questions

A normal web address with a few labels added to the end, such as utm_source and utm_campaign. When someone clicks it, Google Analytics reads the labels and records which campaign sent them.

Always set source, medium and campaign. Source is where the click came from, medium is the kind of traffic, and campaign is a name you will recognise later. Term, content and id are optional extras for search keywords and for telling two ads apart.

Yes. Google Analytics 4 treats "Facebook" and "facebook" as two different sources and splits your reports in two. Use lowercase and underscores everywhere, which this builder does for you by default.

No. A UTM link on an internal link can start a new session and overwrite where the visitor really came from. Use them only on links that bring people to your site from outside.

Usually not. Google Ads adds its own tracking label (gclid) through auto-tagging, and that is what links ad clicks to Google Analytics. Add UTMs to Google Ads only if you know why you need them.

No. The link is built inside your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to us.

Tagging links but the sales still do not match?

Tell us which ads and platforms you run. We check where the tracking breaks between the click and the order, before there is any quote.

No pitch deck, no obligation. Bring your URL and we will look at it together.
