Volumetric weight calculator

Enter your box size and weight. See the weight the courier will actually bill, and whether you are paying to ship empty space.

Most Indian couriers divide the box volume in cubic centimetres by 5000, and bill the larger of that and the real weight. Some use 4000 or 6000, and slab sizes differ. Check your courier's rate card before you rely on the result.

How we can help

Shipping cost is part of what each order really earns

A box that is too big can quietly take a large share of the margin on a small order. We set up shipping rules, packaging and rate cards so the cost you charge matches the cost you pay.

Questions

A weight the courier works out from the size of the box, not from what is inside it. It is length times breadth times height, divided by a number the courier sets, so a large, light box is billed as if it were heavy.

Length × breadth × height in centimetres, divided by the divisor. Most Indian couriers use 5000, so a 30 × 20 × 15 cm box is 9,000 ÷ 5,000 = 1.8 kg.

The larger of the two. A dense, heavy parcel is billed on its real weight. A big, light one is billed on its volumetric weight.

It is the usual one in India, but some couriers use 4000 or 6000, and slab sizes differ. Check your courier's rate card, and choose the matching divisor here.

Use the smallest box the product fits in, add less empty space and filler, and keep a few box sizes rather than one for everything.
