Barcode generator and GTIN checker

Check that an EAN, UPC or GTIN number is valid, work out a missing last digit, and download the barcode. All in your browser.

Making a barcode is not owning the number. Google Shopping and marketplaces check numbers against the GS1 registry. A number you generated yourself draws a perfect barcode and still fails that check. Real numbers for products you sell come from GS1 India.

How we can help

Barcodes that look right and are wrong

After a store migration, the barcode field is often full of junk numbers that look real. Every product appears to have a barcode, and every one fails the check, which blocks Google Shopping and marketplaces.

Questions

A Global Trade Item Number, the number printed under a product's barcode. It comes in 8, 12, 13 and 14 digit forms. EAN-13 is the usual one in India, and UPC-A (12 digits) is the one used in the US and Canada.

The drawing will scan, but marketplaces and Google Shopping check the number against the GS1 registry. A number you invented will fail that check. Real numbers come from GS1 India.

890 is the GS1 prefix for India. Numbers issued to Indian companies usually start with it, but a product made elsewhere and sold here carries its own country's prefix.

Do not invent one. In Google Merchant Center you can mark the product as having no identifier and supply a brand and part number instead.

No. The check and the drawing happen in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to us.
