Short answer
A vCard QR code is a QR code that holds a contact card, with your name, phone, email and website. When someone scans it with their phone camera, they are offered the chance to save you as a contact. The free vCard QR code generator on this site makes one in a minute, nothing uploaded.

What is inside
A vCard is the standard format for a contact card, saved as a .vcf file. A vCard QR code holds that same text inside the QR. Scanning it makes the phone offer to add the contact, with each field filled in.
Static and dynamic codes
A static code, like the one this tool makes, holds your details inside the code. It never expires and needs no subscription or app. The cost is that you cannot change it: if your number or title changes, make a new code.
A dynamic code points to a web address that the provider can change later. It can be updated, but it depends on that provider, and it often stops working if the subscription ends. For a printed business card, a static code is the safer choice.

How to make one
Enter your name and the details you want to share, then download the code as a PNG. Download the .vcf file as well, so you can attach it to emails or put it on your website. Keep it to the essentials: name, role, company, phone, email and website.
Printing it so it scans
Scan the code with a different phone before you print a batch. Bigger is easier. About 2 cm wide is a sensible minimum on a business card, with a clear blank border around it.
A code with a long address or title is denser and needs more room. If it is hard to scan, cut some text.
Where to use it
On a business card, a name badge, a poster at a stand, the back of a leaflet, your email signature or your website. Pair it with a page you own, so a scan can lead somewhere after the contact is saved.
